It wasn’t until the 1980's when a new material, GaAlAs(gallium aluminum arsenide) was developed, that a rapid growth in the use of LEDs began to occur. GaAlAs technology provided superior performance over previously available LEDs. The brightness was over 10 times greater than standard LEDs due to increased efficiency and multi-layer, heterojunction type structures. The voltage required for operation was lower resulting in a total power savings. The LEDs could also be easily pulsed or multiplexed. This allowed their use in variable message and outdoor signs. LED were also designed into such application as bar code scanners, fiber optic data transmission systems, and medical equipment. Although this was a major breakthrough in LED Technology, there were still significant drawbacks to GaAlAs material. First, it was only available in a red 660nm wavelength. Second, the light output degradation of GaAlAs is greater than that of standard technology. 2, record 14, English, - gallium%20aluminum%20arsenide

Either way, once something has been tagged as deprecated programmers are encouraged not to use it. Today, the Minister's power to review convictions is set out in sections 696. 1-696. 6 in Part XXI. 1 of the Criminal Code. The Regulations Respecting Applications for Ministerial Review-Miscarriages of Justice outline the requirements for an application as well as the procedure that is followed once an application has been completed. The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature is a set of rules in zoology that have one fundamental aim : to provide the maximum universality and continuity in classifying all animals according to taxonomic judgment. The Code is meant to guide the nomenclature of animals, while leaving the zoologists some degree of freedom in naming and classifying new species. The rules in the Code determine what names are potentially valid for any taxon including the ranks of subspecies and superfamily. Its provisions can be waived or modified in their application to a particular case when strict adherence would cause confusion. Such exceptions are not made by an individual scientist, no matter how well-respected within his or her field, but only by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature(ICZN), acting on behalf of all zoologists. 1, record 33, English, - International%20Code%20of%20Zoological%20Nomenclature

1, record 33, French, - Code%20international%20de%20nomenclature%20zoologique
