[A tie rod cylinder] is held together with four additional longitudinal rods, which extend the full length of the barrel and pass through holes in each corner of a square flange in the end caps of the cylinder. The ends of the rods are threaded and the whole assembly(cylinder barrel, ends, seats, etc.) is held together with lock washers and nuts. In some designs, instead of passing through holes in flanges in the ends of the cylinder, the tie rods are actually a long bolt. The threaded end of the bolts pass through a non-threaded hole in one cylinder end and screw into a tapped hole in the other. 2, record 1, English, - tie%20rod%20cylinder

... a rail threader is used to lift the rails onto their final position on the ties. This machine rides on the rails just like the gantry cranes, but can also support itself directly on a tie. By doing this, it can lift the rails, and shift them inwards over the ends of the ties, to the proper gauge. It then lowers them onto the rubber tie cushions, and workers use a pneumatically operated machine to bolt down the Nabla clips with a predetermined torque. 2, record 2, English, - rail%20threader

After a review of the manufacturing records of the engines, the FAA determined that a surface anomaly occurred in a tie bolt hole. The anomaly was noticed during the Blue Etch Anodize inspection process, but was deemed acceptable by the manufacturer at that time.
