Punjabi, Panjabi

One of the 15 official languages of India, Punjabi or Panjabi is also widely spoken in the Punjab (Panjab) area of Pakistan. It is the language of Sikhs and is written using various alphabets, including its own.

• Darshan writes poetry in English and Punjabi (or Panjabi).
• The Punjabi (or Panjabi) alphabet, Gurmukhi, was devised by Guru Angad in the sixteenth century.

A native or resident of the Punjab is called a Punjabi.

• The passengers on the Komagata Maru were all Punjabis and included Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims.
