La structure de référence comporte 7 niveaux fonctionnels hiérarchisés. [...] Niveau 2 : couche liaison. Le niveau précédent rend la transmission transparente au niveau du bit. Cette deuxième couche organise la communication sous la forme de blocs définis de bits (appelés trames), détecte et corrige les erreurs de transmission du niveau 1.
