Record 1 2002-03-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Speleology
  • Geomorphology and Geomorphogeny
CONT

Ground-water solution through the limestone produced a sponge-like karst terrain, with mazes of underground caverns and innumerable surface sinkholes ...

OBS

Sometimes, karst is compared to a giant sponge or Swiss cheese ... Karst has some holes - caves - as big as football fields and other so tiny you can hardly poke a pin into them.

Key term(s)
  • spongelike karst

French

Domaine(s)
  • Spéléologie
  • Géomorphologie et géomorphogénie
CONT
