Abstract of the disclosure. Membrane separation under perstraction conditions of a lube oil distillate is disclosed which produces a retentate rich in non-aromatics hydrocarbons and alkyl aromatic and a permeate rich in multi-ring aromatics. The recovered retentate is similar to a solvent extracted raffinate but possesses a higher concentration of alkyl-single ring aromatics. The membrane separation process is highly selective for removing multi-ring aromatics from the lube distillate. 1, record 15, English, - perstraction

Acetic acid is the most extensively used organic acid, and is obtained either by the oxidation of alcohol and aldehyde, or by the destructive distillation of wood and carbohydrates in general. This yields an impure pyroligneous vinegar, which is subsequently purified.... Stahl proposed in 1700 a method to obtain acetic acid from vinegar by exposing the latter substance to a freezing temperature, separating the ice from the stronger acid; another method he suggested was to neutralize with an alkali and to evaporate, then distilling with an equal amount of sulphuric acid. In 1759 Count de Lauraguais obtained a crystallized acetic acid in a distillate of cuprum acetate, then known as "copper spirit. "The name glacial acetic acid was affixed to this substance by Löwitz(1793), who repeatedly distilled diluted acetic acid with powdered charcoal, and obtained thereby a crystalline acid by subjecting the product to a low temperature. 5, record 16, English, - glacial%20acetic%20acid

A membrane-based process(RO) was used to preconcentrate the plant's wastewater, thus minimizing the feed volume to the Ionics RCC Evaporators. The RO product water is returned to the cooling tower for makeup and the RO reject is fed to two Ionics RCC Brine Concentrators which recover the feed as high quality distillate for additional makeup. Subsequently, the evaporator brine is concentrated in a 50 gpm Ionics RCC Crystallizer, producing dry solids for disposal. 3, record 31, French, - distillat

Tertiary treatment is ... primarily intended to further clean, or polish, secondary treatment plant effluents by removing additional suspended material and lowering the BOD, generally by filtration. This polishing, however, has little impact on the dissolved solids, including the nutrients, synthetic organic chemicals, and heavy metals. To eliminate these constituents of wastewater, other methods of treatment have been devised. These processes include coagulation and sedimentation, precipitation, adsorption on activated carbon or other adsorbents, foam separation, electrodialysis, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and distillation. 3, record 32, English, - distillation

The Shell Middle Distillate Synthesis(SMDS) plant now operational at Bintulu, Malaysia, is the latest in a series of partnership projects between Shell companies and the people of Malaysia that stretches back for more than 100 years. The new plant uses advanced technology to convert natural gas, abundantly available from the Central Luconia field offshore Sarawak, into liquid fuels of high purity. These fuels can also be used as components to upgrade lower quality stock derived from conventional crude oil processing. In addition, the plant can produce high-value waxes, as well as feedstocks for detergents and lubricants. The product mix can be varied to meet market needs. The SMDS technology was developed at the Shell laboratory in Amsterdam(KSLA) over a period of 20 years. After commercial and technical assessment, Bintulu was chosen in preference to sites in other parts of the world as an appropriate location for the employment of SMDS technology in the first commercial plant. 2, record 34, English, - Shell%27s%20middle%20distillates%20synthesis%20technology

Jackson currently manufactures a unique netting system which is designed to entrap and concentrate slicks in a manner similar to purse seining.... An advantage of the seining net is its potential ability to contain certain oils without significant losses in various sea states ranging up to 3. Limitations may include its inapplicability to light oils as well as the tendency for heavier distillate fuels to cling to the netting thus rendering their removal difficult if not time-consuming. 2, record 61, English, - net%20boom

1, record 61, French, - filet%20anti%2Dpollution
