A layer across which there is a significant temperature difference and the heat transfer is primarily via heat conduction, for example, the oceanic lithosphere. 2, record 1, English, - thermal%20boundary%20layer

There is another possible definition for the lithosphere: it is the thermal boundary layer of mantle convection, i.e. the surface layer where heat is transported by conduction rather than advection. 3, record 1, English, - thermal%20boundary%20layer

For a cooling Earth, the lithosphere is then a thermal boundary layer which is cooler and denser than the underlying asthenosphere. 4, record 1, English, - thermal%20boundary%20layer

Boundary Layers. A consequence of any fluid-surface interaction (as is found in convective heat transfer) is the development of a region in the fluid through which the velocity varies from zero at the surface to a finite value ... associated with the flow. This region is known as the hydrodynamic, or velocity boundary layer. If there is a difference in the surface and flow temperatures, there will also develop a region in the fluid through which the temperature varies ... in the outer flow ... This region, called the thermal boundary layer, may be smaller, larger or the same size as that through which the velocity varies. 2, record 2, English, - thermal%20boundary%20layer
