As the agricultural industry experienced excess moisture events, the need to plan for these extreme events resulted in another update. This version of the plan, the Agriculture Drought and Excess Moisture Risk Management Plan (ADEMRMP), continues to provide a framework for a coordinated, pro-active approach to reduce the short and long-term effects of drought and excess moisture on Alberta farmers and ranchers. It will guide government agencies in assisting producers to more effectively reduce the impacts before, during and after an adverse event, and will help the agricultural industry to be more prepared and less vulnerable to moisture extremes. 1, record 10, English, - Agriculture%20Drought%20and%20Excess%20Moisture%20Risk%20Management%20Plan

Title l of the 1949 Housing Act authorized federal grants and loans to localities for slum clearance and urban redevelopment, under the condition that there be "a feasible method for the temporary relocation of families displaced from the project area and the permanent provision of decent dwellings at prices and rents within the financial means of such families. "Ostensibly, slum clearance was done to promote the building of low and moderate income housing. However, private developers were largely uninterested in inner-city residential redevelopment when vacant land was readily available at the periphery. The first lesson of urban renewal was clearly taught, if not learned : land clearance does not create demand. Instead, public housing was developed in large scale residential "projects" in urban renewal district. 3, record 14, English, - urban%20redevelopment

Under Canadian law the regulation of buildings is a provincial responsibility and is carried out through various laws, Acts, codes and regulations, often administered at the municipal level. Provincial legislation empowers government agencies or departments to regulate different aspects of buildings, depending on the objectives of the specific law or Act. Such legislation permits the establishment of detailed regulations by which the objectives of the law are to be met; or it may refer to other documents. For example, laws protecting the safety and health of building occupants usually refer to building codes for additional requirements. 1, record 24, English, - Building%20Codes%20and%20Regulations

1, record 24, French, - Codes%20et%20r%C3%A8glements%20de%20la%20construction

Surrender is a generic term for all acts of the kind, [mentioned in the definition] but the following specific terms, including surrender itself, are normally used depending on what is surrender : surrender for an estate, lease, patent, insurance policy or physical object; disclaimer, renunciation, for an estate, succession, inheritance or office, especially if not yet vested or if unwanted or burdensome; resignation, reliquishment, for an office; waiver release, for a right of action; waiver renunciation, for a right to attend a meeting, right to receive notice, right to generally to the benefit of an obligation; release for a debt, usually on its satisfaction, e. g. for a mortgage; remission for an unsatisfied debt; discontinuance for the reliquishment and consequent termination of a judicial action by written notice given by a plaintiff, or for the termination of an abandoned action by court order. All the above should be clearly distinguished from abandonment, which is a unilateral and unwritten act of relinquishment, e. g. of a child, a ship, land, a building, goods, or of a judicial action where no notice of relinquishment is given by the plaintiff(in which connection abandonment does not terminate the action if the possibility subsists of it being revived) ;and from forfeiture, which is involuntary. 3, record 31, English, - abdication

A technique called active structural control uses sensors to detect the movement of a bridge or a building, and then responds(by moving a counterweight or a hydraulic area, for example) to minimize the effects. 1, record 36, French, - Transmission%20des%20donn%C3%A9es%20du%20recensement%20de%201996%20aux%20minist%C3%A8res%20et%20organismes

Implementation of the Worker Profiling and Reemployment Services(WPRS) system is a prominent first step in building a nation-wide reemployment system. State reemployment insurance, labor exchange and training partners are implementing WPRS systems in all States. Amendments to the Social Security Act contained in P. L. 103-152 require that UI [unemployment insurance] claimants who are identified through profiling methods as likely to exhaust benefits and who are in need of reemployment services to transition to new employment participate in reemployment services, such as job search assistance. 2, record 38, English, - Worker%20Profiling%20and%20Reemployment%20Services
