Tagliabue Open-Cup Apparatus. 1) Scope :(a) This method describes a test procedure for the determination of open-cup flashpoints of volatile flammable materials having flashpoints below 175 degrees Fahrenheit;... NOTE : ASTM Designation : D 1310-59T, issued 1954, revised 1955, 1956, and 1959.... 2) Outline of Method. The sample is placed in the cup of a Tag Open Tester, and heated at a slow but constant rate. A small test flame is passed at a uniform rate across the cup at specified intervals. The flashpoint is taken as the lowest temperature at which application of the test flame causes the vapor at the surface of the liquid to flash; that is, ignite but not continue to burn. 6, record 5, English, - Tagliabue%20open%20cup%20method

We feel that the term "Tagliabue (or Tag) open cup" is not a true synonym of "tagliabue open cup method", but is an elliptic form of this latter term. In fact, "Tagliabue open cup" refers to a part of the Tagliabue open-cup tester, and therefore it could be rendered by the French equivalent "vase ouvert Tag", depending on the context. 2, record 5, English, - Tagliabue%20open%20cup%20method

Pool lighting equipment is available in both 120 volt and 12 volt systems.... The bulbs used for underwater lighting are not the same as those above ground. They are designed to operate at higher temperatures taking advantage of the water for cooling. This is important because pool lights will burn out if they are operated above the water surface. 1, record 14, English, - pool%20lighting

Progressive fracture in the head of the rail, starting from a burn, with transverse separation substantially at right angles to the running surface. It is usually found compounded with a shallow horizontal separation where the zone of burned metal separates from the rail metal just below the surface.(RDMA, 64, p. 40). 2, record 15, English, - engine%20burn%20fracture

Soft, Lazy Flame. This condition appears only when just enough primary air is admitted to the burner to cause the yellow tips to disappear. The inner cone and the outer envelope will not be as clearly defined as they are in the correct, blue flame. This type of flame is best for high-low operation. It is not suitable, however, wherever there may be a shortage of secondary air. This flame will burn blue in the open air; however, when it touches a cooler surface, soot will be deposited on that surface. 1, record 16, English, - soft%20lazy%20flame

Plate burning. After a negative has been prepared for an engraving, it is placed on the plate in a vacuum frame; the rays from the light source "burn" the plate, passing through the transparent areas of the negative and hardening the plate surface coating; this coating is later developed and the unexposed areas washed away; plates are also burned for offset printing. 2, record 19, English, - plate%20burner
