Couples ou cadres. Ce sont des éléments transversaux en forme d’arceaux; ils donnent sa forme au fuselage. Ils assurent la rigidité transversale de celui-ci et sont aussi rapprochés que possible, c’est ainsi que les 76 cadres de Caravelle sont espacés de 42 cm et deux de Concorde de 53 cm. Les «cadres forts» ou «couples principaux» supportent les efforts concentrés dus par exemple : - aux limites de zone pressurisée; - aux encadrements de porte, de hublots, de pare-brise; - aux attaches d’aile et d’empennage; - aux logements de train.
