A city of the province of Saskatchewan and its capital and commercial and financial centre, situated in the middle of a wide, level alluvial plain of Western Canada. Founded in 1882, it was named for Queen Victoria, mother-in-law of then Governor General the Marquess of Lorne. In 1883, the city was made the capital of the Northwest Territories, but became the provincial capital when Saskatchewan was formed in 1905. 2, record 1, English, - Regina

Ville de la province de la Saskatchewan qui en est aussi la capitale et le centre commercial et financier, située au milieu d'une vaste plaine alluviale de l'Ouest canadien. Fondée en 1882, elle reçoit le nom de «Regina» en l'honneur de la reine Victoria, belle-mère du marquis de Lorne, alors gouverneur général du Canada.
