Les gabbros prennent, par altération hydrothermale, un aspect de roche verte. Le plagioclase est alors remplacé par un mélange d'épidote et d'albite (saussuritisation), tandis que le pyroxène est ouralitisé (ouralitisation). [...] Lorsque l'évolution est complète, la roche est appelée une épidiorite.
