The term "exposition" means the show itself and "exhibition", "the act of showing or the display." For events of universal interest, the word "exposition" is used for the official designations while current usage also uses "world exhibition" though an inappropriate generic. The term "fair" meaning "a gathering for the purpose of showing goods and products often with entertainment or a midway" is also an inappropriate generic for such world events. 3, record 1, English, - world%20exposition

Rencontre internationale de pays en vue de présenter au monde leurs réalisations sur un thème donné et leur projets dans ce domaine pour les années à venir. 3, record 1, French, - exposition%20universelle
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
3, record 1, French, - exposition%20universelle
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Les expositions universelles ont habituellement des thèmes de nature humaine et sociale, comme «Terre des hommes», le thème d'Expo 67 à Montréal (Québec), ou économique et environnementale, comme «Transports et Communications», celui d'Expo 86 à Vancouver (Colombie-Britannique). 3, record 1, French, - exposition%20universelle
