Some competing terms: free fan (Boeing): unducted fan, UDF (GE): ultra fan, advanced propeller (R-R): ultra-high bypass, UHB (McDonnell Douglas): ultra-bypass engine, UBE (Boeing coined this term to describe both geared propfans and gearless unducted fan).
