L'indice d'aptitude à l'évolution biologique est la somme de deux termes. Le premier est égal au produit du niveau d'ATP, caractérisé par un chiffre variant de 2 à 8, par le logarithme décimal de la DBO5 du liquide interstitiel de la boue.
