[The Ronchi test] uses a grating of fine parallel lines to test the deviation of a mirror from its correct figure. L'inconvénient [du test de Ronchi] est son manque de précision. Contrairement au test de Foucault, le test de Ronchi n'est pas pratiqué au foyer de l'instrument. Pour gagner en précision, il faut d'une part augmenter le nombre de traits au mm [de la trame] et se rapprocher du foyer. Dans ce cas les phénomènes de diffraction sont prépondérants et rendent l'interprétation de l'image impossible.
