The vertical gyro roll pick-off is mixed into the platform pitch erection loop to prevent the vertical gyro roll gimbal driving from stop to stop during the first phase of rapid align. As the gyro erects, rapid gimbal motion may drive the pitch gimbal into its spring stop (1 degree from pick-off null).
