Soil is the naturally occurring, unconsolidated, mineral or organic material at the earth's surface that is capable of supporting plant growth. It extends from the surface to 15 cm (6 inches) below the depth at which properties produced by soil-forming processes can be detected.

Le sol s'étend depuis la surface jusqu'à une profondeur de 15 cm (6 po) au-dessous de la limite de détection des caractères attribuables aux processus de la formation des sols.
