La thyroplastie consiste en la mise en place d'un implant inerte par l'intermédiaire d'une fenêtre réalisée dans l'aile cartilagineuse thyroïdienne ipsilatérale par cervicotomie. Elle peut être réalisée sous anesthésie locale ou loco-régionale. Divers types d'implants sont disponibles : silastic, silicone, hydroxylapatite, céramique, gore-tex, vitallium, titane, cartilage autologue (grade B).
