The relationship between the microorganisms and hydrothermal activity suggests that they probably represent(hyper) thermophilic organisms. The range of environments in which they occur indicate that they may also have developed the following attributes : mesophily(adaptation to moderate temperatures <50 °C), acidophily(adaptation to the acidic conditions of deep sea vents or shallower/subaerial hot springs...), halophily(adaptation to salty conditions) and possibly alkalophily(adaptation to alkaline conditions)... 3, record 1, English, - alkalophily

Technically speaking, the bokashi method is a form of fermentation rather than composting—while composting decomposes waste and results in matter ready to be added to a garden, bokashi ferments(or pickles) food and results in matter still too acidic to be added to plants. That's why the final stage of bokashi composting is to add the bokashi matter to a compost bin or fallow spot in the garden. In short, bokashi is a way to quickly ferment food scraps so that they can be composted faster. 4, record 2, English, - bokashi

5, record 2, French, - bokashi

The successful transformation of a dead body to a mummy requires that its components reach a state in which they are thermodynamically stable and kinetically inert.... The three fundamental preservation types in which these properties have been observed are mummification by desiccation, transformation to adipocere, and tanning in the acidic bog environment... Desiccation, or the drying of soft tissues, can occur naturally under the right conditions, resulting in mummification. Proteins usually are almost neutral molecules; that is, they have neither acidic nor basic properties. This means that the acidic carboxyl(-COO-) groups of aspartic and glutamic acid are about equal in number to the amino acids with basic side chains. Three such basic amino acids, each containing six carbon atoms, occur in proteins. The one with the simplest structure, lysine, is synthesized by plants but not by animals. Even some plants have a low lysine content. 9, record 42, English, - L%2Dlysine

2, record 42, Spanish, - lisina

Calnexin is a 90 kDa [kiloDaltons] integral membrane protein located primarily in the ER [endoplasmic reticulum]. It contains a long N-terminal calcium-binding domain that extends into the lumen of the ER and a short, acidic cytosolic domain. Calnexin associates with several cell surface proteins as they pass through the ER. Since it also forms complexes with other resident ER proteins involved in the Ca2+-dependent retention of proteins, calnexin may act as a chaperone. 1, record 53, English, - calnexin

A small, vase-shaped, ornamental tree with clouds of white or pink, single or double flowers, at lilac time. It can grow to 20-30’ high and 15-30’ wide in sun. It has nice autumn foliage and scarlet-orange berries which remain on the tree for a long time. The tree makes a handsome free-standing specimen or several, informally grouped, may be used as a screen or accent. The tree will tolerate poor drainage if necessary and likes some lime in our acidic soil. 2, record 61, English, - Washington%20hawthorn

... The term basicity function is not in common use in connection with basic solutions.... Acidity functions are not unique properties of the solvent system alone but depend on the solute(or family of closely related solutes) with respect to which the thermodynamic tendency is measured. Commonly used acidity functions refer to concentrated acidic or basic solutions. Acidity functions are usually established over a range of compositions of such a system by spectrophotometric or nmr measurements of the degree of protonation(or Lewis adduct formation) for the members of a series of structurally similar indicator bases(or acids) of different strengths... 1, record 80, English, - acidity%20function

1, record 80, French, - fonction%20d%27acidit%C3%A9

In 1980s, St. Lawrence Technologies Inc.(SLT, as a partner in the Bio-Hol joint venture) in Canada, collaborated with the Tennessee Valley Authority(TVA) in the USA and the Swedish Ethanol Development Foundation, developed a two stage hydrolysis process called the CASH process(Canada, America, Sweden Hydrolysis) at pilot plant scale for the conversion of wood feedstock to ethanol(O’Boyle et al., 1991). In the first stage of the process, TVA used the Sunds Defibrator to prehydrolyse pine wood chips under mildly acidic conditions. The pretreated material was then hydrolysed in the SLT plug flow reactor to convert cellulose to glucose. The yield of the conversion from cellulose to glucose exceeded 50%, which was close to the theoretical yield in dilute acid hydrolysis(Malester et al., 1992).
