Les routeurs externes (inter SA) [...] ont un rôle encore différent. Ils vont annoncer aux routeurs EGP (ou BGP), donc à l'extérieur du SA, l'ensemble des réseaux présent dans le SA et leur coûts. De cette manière, tout les réseaux sont connus au niveau des routeurs EGP. Par ailleurs, chaque routeur externe inondera l'ensemble du SA de message LSA qui permettront à toutes les passerelles de connaître le plus court chemin vers l'extérieur.
