As used herein, the term "control law" can refer to one or more mathematical formulae used by a control system to command, manage, direct, or regulate the behavior of another device, such as a robot. Control laws can be used singularly or [in] combination to produce a control signal based on another signal(e. g., positive feedback, negative feedback, etc.) and one or more control variables. The output of the control law is a signal that is passed to the robot to cause it to move based on the difference between desired values and actual values(e. g., sensor data). For example, a PID [proportional-integral-derivative] controller combines three control laws where one control variable scales the present value of the error, another control variable scales the integral of the error, and a third control variable scales the derivative of the error. These scaled terms can then be fed back to the system to change the signal. 1, record 1, English, - control%20law

At all dietary inclusion levels of TRF [tocotrienol-rich fraction], total vitamin E concentrations found in the adipose tissue were the highest. Unlike other tissues, the adipose tissue of tilapia fed with palm TRF was rich in tocotrienols which made up almost 50% of the total vitamin E deposited. This makes fish offal oil a very useful by-product from the processing factories of farmed fish, and can be marketed as a tocotrienol-enriched fish oil targeting the health food sector. 2, record 5, English, - fish%20offal%20oil

A computer vision inspection system is used in a production line to carry out responsibilities that humans struggle with. In this use case, the system uses high-resolution images to build a full 3D [tridimensional] model of components and their connector pins. As components run through the manufacturing plant, the computer vision system captures various images from different angles to generate a 3D model. These images, when combined and fed to AI [artificial intelligence] algorithms, identify any faulty threading or minor deviation from the design. 1, record 6, English, - computer%20vision%20inspection%20system

The dribble belts are rough surface rubber belts set at an incline and rolling uphill(on the top surface).... The first belt receives the "strippage" from the primary conveyor belt under the stripping section. The [hop] cones roll "downhill", while the leaves and less round debris such as branches stick to the rough surface and are drawn uphill along with some of the cones that don’t roll down the first dribble belt. Whatever hasn’t rolled down the first belt is delivered to the second where another round of separation takes place. This continues over 5 belts with the "trash" being deposited over the top of the last dribble belt onto a trash conveyor while the cones that come off the bottom of each dribble belt are deposited onto a primary hop conveyor. 2, record 7, English, - dribble%20belt

As part of its mission to protect the health of American agriculture, the United States Department of Agriculture's(USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service(APHIS) works to prevent foreign animal diseases from entering the U. S. and harming [the] nation's livestock and poultry. One way that APHIS does this is to enforce the Swine Health Protection Act, which provides rules for feeding human food waste to pigs. This practice, which is commonly known as garbage feeding, can spread diseases if contaminated meat products are fed to pigs. 2, record 13, English, - garbage%20feeding

Strip casting technology permits the production of hot strips, also referred to as hot rolled coiled steel, directly from the liquid crude steel. Casting and rolling are linked into one continuous operation. Strip casting technology is... the last technology in realizing direct casting.... direct casting has been realized in a step-wise fashion : the thickness of the sheet or strip cast has been reduced by three innovative technologies, conventional continuous casting, thin slab casting and strip casting technology... The introduction of thin slab casting(1989) let the liquid steel be cast in thinner slabs... Blooms and billets cannot be produced with a thin slab caster. Thin slab casting technology integrates casting and the finishing operations in the hot rolling section of a steel plant. The cast slabs are charged directly into a reheater and subsequently fed into the hot rolling mill. The reheating capacity for hot rolling the slabs is thus reduced. 2, record 20, English, - thin%2Dslab%20casting

Many writers have emphasized that if Thayer is correct in stating that relevance is a matter of logic, the concept of legal relevance ought to be rejected. In this approach there are no degrees of relevance : evidence is either relevant or not. According to the standard of legal relevance, evidence is admissible only if, as a minimum, it is logically relevant, and it also has a higher degree of probative value than would be required for ordinary reasoning.(Fed./Prov. The machine is made up of connected sections which flex and bend as waves pass; it is this motion which is used to generate electricity. … The Pelamis device consists of a series of semi-submerged cylindrical sections linked by hinged joints. The wave-induced relative motion of these sections is resisted by hydraulic cylinders which pump high pressure oil through hydraulic motors via smoothing hydraulic accumulators. The hydraulic motors drive electrical generators to produce electricity. Power from all the joints is fed down a single umbilical cable to a junction on the sea bed. 1, record 65, French, - convertisseur%20Pelamis

Many factors are responsible for the loss of weight or "shrink" of calves, feeder and slaughter cattle during marketing. As shrinkage increases, the potential for improving net returns from calves, feeders and fed cattle decreases. Shrinkage directly affects the income of all cattle producers. Shrinkage can be reduced through better handling techniques, attention to environment and diet, market planning and an appreciation of animal psychology. This module discusses how shrinkage effects net return and how producers can reduce losses from shrinkage. 1, record 74, English, - slaughter%20cattle

The boilers are fed wood fuel from the main fuel bin located adjacent to the boiler house. The boilers are the "pile burner" type, which burn wood in a large pile on the floor of a refractory lined furnace box. Combustion efficiency with this type of boiler is generally low but pile burners are simple and therefore relatively inexpensive. Low combustion efficiency also means that emissions such as particulates and carbon monoxide are relatively high. One notable advantage to these systems is that high moisture content fuels can be burned as well as "dirty" fuels containing debris. 3, record 81, English, - pile%20burner
Record number: 81, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Pile burner: Boilers incorporating a pile burning design find applications where the anticipated wood fuel has a high (up to 65%) relative moisture content, as is found in whole green tree chips, bark, and green mill residue. Grates serve to support the fuel, and underfire air flowing up through the grates provides oxygen for combustion, cools the grates, promotes turbulence in the fuel bed, and dries the fuel. The most common form of pile burning is the Dutch oven, which was used almost exclusively during the early part of the century (Guinn and Turner 1990). 4, record 81, English, - pile%20burner

Pasta machines. There are two basic types of machines that can be used to make homemade pasta-the roller type and the extruder type. Roller-type pasta machines come in hand-cranked and electric versions. Both come with several attachments-usually one pair of smooth rollers for rolling out the sheets of dough, and two notched pairs(one narrow and one wide) used to cut noodles. With this type of machine, the dough is run between the smooth rollers at increasingly thinner settings until it reaches the desired thickness. The sheets of dough are then fed through either pair of the notched rollers, which cut them into noodles. Some machines have additional attachments, such as crinkle-edge cutters for making lasagne noodles. Extruder pasta machines mix the dough inside the unit, then force it out through special plates with variously shaped perforations. 3, record 84, English, - pasta%20maker

A pathological condition in humans caused by the consumption of certain marine mussels or clams that have fed on planktonic dinoflagellates belonging to the genus Gonyaulax. The mussels or clams become contaminated with a neurotoxin produced by the dinoflagellates, and subsequent consumption by humans results in respiratory or gastrointestinal distress. The RO product water is returned to the cooling tower for makeup and the RO reject is fed to two Ionics RCC Brine Concentrators which recover the feed as high quality distillate for additional makeup. 1, record 98, French, - programme%20alimentaire
