Lorsque la sonde se trouve à proximité immédiate d'une surface de référence, les effets des forces de Van der Waals modifient légèrement cette oscillation. We present a novel technique in which a reflection scanning near-field optical microscope (SNOM) is used for direct writing of nano-scale patterns into hydrogen-passivated silicon surfaces. The reflection SNOM is operated as a combined shear-force/near-field microscope enabling simultaneous imaging of topographical and optical properties with subwavelength resolution. ... Beside high resolution optical imaging (<50 nm) and patterning of hydrogen-passivated silicon surfaces, the SNOM can also be used for transferring nano-scale patterns into ordinary photo resist with a typical resolution of 50-100 nm. The SNOM thereby overcomes the far-field diffraction limit of conventional photolithography. 5, record 3, English, - scanning%20near%2Dfield%20optical%20microscope

The Dimension 3000 Scanning Probe Microscope(SPM) encompasses several techniques for studying surface properties of materials at the atomic to micron scale. It measures surface structure and produces images with three-dimensional information. It measures surface roughness and maps the surface based on atomic force, friction, magnetic field, relative stiffness, or electric field gradient. Typical applications : 1. Studying surface of optical components(especially mirrors) [;] 2. Mapping of magnetic properties of tapes[;] 3. Measuring surface pit depth and width. Mode of operation : An atomically sharp tip, held at the end of a cantilever, is scanned in a regular pattern across a surface. As the tip probes the surface, the interaction between the surface and tip is measured using a laser-based system. 3, record 4, English, - scanning%20probe%20microscope

Unlike the STM, the AFM [Atomic Force Microscope] can scan nonconducting samples. It can do this because it uses optical technology, direct contact, and a laser, to sense the position of the tip in relation to the sample. The tip is very sharp and protrudes from a small flexible cantilever. The laser reflects off the top side of the tip and is directed to a split photodiode. The height of the surface of the sample deflects the cantilever causing the position of the laser on the photodiode to change. The difference in voltage from the photodiode elements provide a "picture" of the surface. 6, record 5, English, - atomic%20force%20microscope

Nanolithography is the art and science of etching, writing, or printing at the microscopic level, where the dimensions of characters are on the order of nanometres. This includes various methods of modifying semiconductor chips at the atomic level for the purpose of fabricating integrated circuits(ICs). Instruments used in nanolithography include the scanning tunnelling microscope(STM) and the atomic force microscope(AFM). Both allow surface viewing in fine detail without necessarily modifying it. Either the STM or the AFM can be used to etch, write, or print on a surface in single-atom dimensions. 4, record 6, English, - nanolithography
