The wing profile and configuration are specifically tailored to delay boundary layer airflow separation to a higher Mach number(0. 78), and the drag rise due to Mach-induced separation is minimized. 1, record 1, English, - boundary%20layer%20airflow%20separation

Separation. An airflow is said to become separated from the object around which it is moving when the flow ceases to follow the contours of the body but instead features turbulent mixing and flow reversal close to the surface. 6, record 1, English, - boundary%20layer%20airflow%20separation

2, record 1, French, - d%C3%A9collement%20des%20filets%20d%27air

... the Blended-Wing-Body(BWB) concept represents a potential revolution in subsonic transport.... In this study, 800 passenger BWB and conventional airplanes were compared for a 7000 nautical mile design range. ADP-class engines were used with technology levels keyed for a 2015 entry into service(EIS). In every measure, the BWB was found to be superior to the conventional configuration. Key findings for the BWB include : TOGW 15% lower[;] OEW 12% lower [;] Fuel-Burn 28% lower [;] Thrust 27% lower [;] L/D 21% higher [;] DOC 13% lower [. ] The BWB advantage results from a double-deck cabin that extends spanwise as well as lengthwise providing structural and aerodynamic overlap with the wing. This reduces the total wetted area of the airplane and the deep stiff centerbody provides efficient structural wingspan. Relaxed static stability allows optimal span loading, and a trailing-edge high-lift system is not required. Further synergy may be realized through buried engines that ingest the centerbody's boundary layer and thus reduce the effective ram drag. 2, record 2, English, - blended%2Dwing%2Dbody%20project

Bladeless turbine... An assembly of plain metallic discs is mounted on a shaft, with narrow spaces between the discs. Geothermal fluid-hot water and/or steam-is admitted to the spaces between the discs at the periphery, and is directed to follow an inward spiral path towards a central exhaust port. The driving force is derived from frictional boundary layer drag between the fluid(s) and the disc surfaces. Such a machine would be very cheap to construct and to maintain : the discs could easily be dismantled, cleaned of chemical deposits and reassembled. 1, record 3, English, - bladeless%20turbine
