The basic traditional design procedure is executed in several stages. In the first stage, the architect develops a program, or list of the client's requirements. In the second stage, or conceptual phase, the architect translates requirements into spaces, relates the spaces and makes sketches, called schematics, to illustrate the concepts. When sufficient information is obtained on the size and general construction of the building, a rough estimate is made of construction cost. If this cost does not exceed the cost budgeted by the client for construction, the next stage, design development, proceeds. 5, record 3, English, - conceptual%20phase

Project Management Practice Standard-Section 3. 3. 5-Concept Design : in some instances, where projects are small or consist of engineered works(where preliminary studies have already been done), this sub-phase may be combined with 3. 3. 6 Design Development. However, where the project is large, complex or unique the Project Team may decide that it is more efficient and economical to discuss the merits of various design options, while the design is still in conceptual form. In the latter case, the objective of this sub-phase is to conceptually define the design concept and the class C cost estimate, and then to gain client and RPS approval prior to instructing the designers to develop a more refined design. Although the consultant and client may communicate directly, the Project Manager must manage the communication flow to control project commitments and to ensure that there is full understanding by both parties. This involves helping the client to analyze and to evaluate the consultant's enquiries, and then responding to the consultant in technical terms which satisfy specific design conditions. Once the consultant has fulfilled the requirement for submissions as specified in the Project Brief, and the client, the project team, the regulatory authorities and the RPS design authorities have accepted the final concept, the Project Manager ensures adequate documentation of these positions in a Conceptual Design Report. This report is formally signed off by all Project Team members. Thus, this sub-phase is completed when the Project Manager is convinced that the consultant has adequately addressed the needs of the client/owner within acceptable time, cost and quality parameters. Only then will the Project Manager allow the consultant to refine the concept in the Design Development phase. 2, record 7, English, - Conceptual%20Design%20Report

In intermediate phase of epistemic diagnosis, between credit/blame assignment and longitudinal consistency. It increases the leverage of direct assignment of credit and blame by asserting correlations between the likelihoods of various pieces of knowledge being mastered. These correlations can be arbitrary when using consistency rules à la UMFE or they can follow the genetic organisation of a set of rules(e. g. WUSOR-III). The advantage of these extensionally defined networks is that they can be designed in the absence of epistemological structure and of a model of conceptual interactions, that is, for compiled knowledge. 1, record 12, English, - structural%20consistency
