An interest-bearing document evidencing part ownership of a trust created for the purpose of purchasing equipment and selling or leasing it to a user. An equipment trust serves as a device for avoiding direct ownership by the user, particularly in the case of railroads and airlines when such ownership would bring the newly acquired asset under existing mortgages and thus make it impossible to have it serve at the same time as security under a conditional-sales or installment-purchase contract. 3, record 1, English, - equipment%20trust%20certificate

The fact, "simpliciter", that the parties to an instrument are described as "assignor" and "assignee" does not make the instrument, which in substance is a sub-agreement of sale, an assignment. There is no privity of contract between the head-vendor and a sub-purchaser. A sub-agreement does not operate as an assignment of the head agreement but is a separate and independent contract, and, thus, a sub-purchaser has no direct claim against the head-vendor and he is thus free to impose such terms as he sees fit as consideration for a transfer directly from himself to the sub-purchaser.(Di Castri, 2nd ed., 1975, p. 413) 1, record 5, English, - sub%2Dagreement%20of%20sale

Notice of certain facts that may be discovered by diligence or inquiry into a public record; a legal presumption that a person is responsible for knowing these facts. The proper recording of a document gives constructive notice to the world of the document's existence and contents. Possession of property also imparts constructive notice of the rights of the party in possession. Examples of rights of parties in possession would be rights under an unrecorded deed, contract for deed, lease-option, and rights of adverse possession. Constructive notice is also referred to as legal notice, in contrast to actual notice, which is express or direct knowledge acquired in the course of a transaction.(Reilly, 2nd ed., 1982, p. 100). 1, record 7, English, - constructive%20notice

The Union of Northern Workers(UNW) or the Northwest Territories(NWT) Public Service Association as it was known then, began organizing employees of the new Territorial Government in 1969. In 1988, the Government of Northwest Territories(GNWT) passed the Union of Northern Workers Act which officially changed the name of the organization and recognized the UNW as the bargaining agent for its members working for the government. The UNW is a component(partner) of the Public Service Alliance of Canada(PSAC). The PSAC provides the UNW and its members with some specialized services. They do organizing drives, lobby governments at the federal level, provide legal advice, and representation in arbitrations. The UNW provides direct service to its members, representing them in job appeals, grievances and everyday workplace problems. UNW also prepares bargaining demands for contract negotiations. UNW Service Officers help ensure that the terms and conditions are enforced for each of the 25 Collective Agreements that apply to our UNQ members. 1, record 8, English, - Union%20of%20Northern%20Workers

Direct barter, as it was practised before money was used as a medium of exchange, is now fairly rare. Under this type of contract, the exporter agrees to deliver certain goods in exchange for other goods specified in advance.... Direct barter, therefore, is a primitive and singularly inefficient form of trade. Not using money greatly limits its flexibility. In the past few years, a number of governments have taken part in such arrangements, especially those countries with substantial resource surpluses, such as the oil-exporting nations. 1, record 27, English, - direct%20barter

1, record 27, French, - troc%20direct
