It has a temperature of approximately two million kelvins and an extremely low density. The corona continually varies in size and shape as it is affected by the Sun's magnetic field.... The corona shines only about half as brightly as the Moon and is normally not visible to the unaided eye, because its light is overwhelmed by the brilliance of the solar surface. During a total solar eclipse, however, the Moon blocks out the light from the photosphere, permitting naked-eye observations of the corona. 4, record 1, English, - solar%20corona

5, record 9, French, - %C3%A9lectrophor%C3%A8se%20en%20champ%20puls%C3%A9

Crater Moltke was named after Helmut Karl von Moltke(1800-1891AD), a Prussian Field Marshall who secured the publication of a map of the Moon produced by the German selenographer, Johann Schmidt. Figure 1 illustrates the location of Crater Moltke. The crater is positioned near a small embayment on the south-southwest margin of Mare Tranquillitatis, the Sea of Tranquillity. Despite its small size, the crater is relatively easy to find, particularly near Full Moon, due to the contrast of the bright ejecta blanket against the dark background of the mare. 3, record 14, English, - crater%20Moltke

Laser annealing of ion-implantation damage was perhaps the first area of laser processing investigated. This is one reason why there is wide-spread use of the term laser annealing to describe the entire field of laser wafer processing. The laser's ability in the following areas is well documented-for instance, the annealing of : 1. Polycrystaline silicon to increase grain size, 2. Polysilicon films to decrease sheet resistivity, 3. Ion implantation to diffuse dopant, 4. Ion implantation to heal stress areas, but the laser wafer annealer has applications beyond this, including : 1. Trimming resistors and capacitors, 2. Serializing wafers, 3. IC failure analysis, 4. Mask repair. 2, record 15, English, - laser%20annealing

In 1963, F. Vine and D. H. Matthews reasoned that, as basaltic magma rises to form new ocean floor at a mid-ocean spreading center, it records the polarity of the magnetic field existing at the time magma crystallized. As spreading pulls the new oceanic crust apart, stripes of approximately the same size should be carried away from the ridge on each side... Basaltic magma forming at mid-ocean ridges serves as a kind of "tape recorder", recording the Earth's magnetic field as it reverses through time. If this idea is correct, alternating stripes of normal and reversed polarity should be arranged symmetrically about mid-ocean spreading centers. 8, record 18, English, - oceanic%20spreading%20center

At present... the formation of urban land rent is no longer due to the presence of a large central town. On the contrary, the rents are now determined by the position with respect to areas destined for particular uses or to smaller urban areas. It is shown... that the distance from the nearest commercial and/or industrial area influences the selling price. In particular, for plots without buildings the highest values are in the immediate vicinity(Lit 8 148/m² at less than 2 km), while they gradually decrease as the distance increases, almost halving at distances of more than 6 km. The same can be said for distance from the nearest village. The plots furthest away cost almost Lit 18 million/haless than those in the immediate vicinity.... Vicinity to a dump has a greater effect than that of poor access. It is clear that being close to dumps almost totally eliminates the building suitability of the land, at least from an urban residential point of view. This allows the effect of the urban land rent on agricultural land in metropolitan areas to be estimated. If the value of a 2 ha plot of land, sited near an industrial or commercial area and with good access, is estimated with model C to be about Lit 77 million/ha, the value of a plot of the same size situated 9km away, near a dump and accessible by a dirt track or across the end of a field, would be about Lit 28 million/ha. 2, record 24, English, - urban%20land%20rent

Synchro torque receivers... are electrically identical to torque transmitters of the same size except for the addition of some form of damping. In some sizes of 400-Hz synchros, units are designated as torque receivers but may be used as either transmitters or receivers. Unlike the transmitter, the receiver has an electrical input to its stator and a mechanical output from its rotor. The synchro receiver's function is to convert the electrical data supplied to its stator from the transmitter, back to a mechanical angular position through the movement of its rotor. This function is accomplished when the rotor is connected to the same ac source as the transmitter and assumes a position determined by the interaction of its magnetic field with the magnetic field of the stator. 2, record 27, English, - synchro%20receiver

The Toulouse Space Centre(CST) has become a unique technical and operational centre in terms of both its size and the scope of its activities. Working in partnership with French industry, the CST develops complete space systems right through to their operational commissioning(e. g. positioning the Arabsat series), contributes to instrument design and development, participates in science projects and leads research or application programmes such as Spot, Hélios, Télécom, Argos and Sarsat-Cospas on behalf of CNES or space users. The CST is also responsible for the positioning and station-keeping of all satellites in CNES's charge. Its capabilities in the field of satellite operations are so renowned that it is used by French prime contractors to orbit satellites for operators outside France. The Toulouse Space Centre also runs a major research and technology programme.
