English

Subject field(s)
  • Measurements of Electricity
  • Electric Rotary Machines
DEF

The direct voltage at the field winding terminals of a machine required to produce rated field current with the field winding at the temperature resulting from the rated output(power) and rated conditions and with the final coolant at its maximum temperature.

OBS

rated field voltage: term and definition standardized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 1996.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Mesures de grandeurs électriques
  • Machines tournantes électriques
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Energy (Physics)
  • Storage Cells (Electr.)
DEF

The number of watt-hours which can be delivered from a storage battery under specified conditions as to temperature, rate of discharge, and final voltage.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Énergie (Physique)
  • Accumulateurs (Électricité)
CONT

Record 3 2013-05-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oscillators and Oscillating Circuits (Electronics)
  • Amplifiers (Electronics)
CONT

The final tuning component of the oscillator, C2 [capacitor] sets the voltage tuning gain of the oscillator. This capacitor should keep the coupling as light as possible while maintaining the required frequency tuning range of the VCO [voltage controlled oscillator] so that the varactor's phase noise contribution is reduced to a minimum. If the coupling is too light, the oscillator may not start under certain conditions.

OBS

frequency tuning range: term officially approved by the Electronics and Telecommunications Terminology Committee.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Circuits oscillants et oscillateurs (Électronique)
  • Amplificateurs (Électronique)
CONT

DEF

The prescribed voltage at which the discharge [of a battery] is considered complete.

OBS

The term "cutoff voltage" is applied more particularly to primary batteries, and "final voltage" to storage batteries.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
  • Telecommunications Transmission
CONT

High-power modulation. In an AM transmitter amplitude modulation of the carrier by introducing the modulating signal into the anode circuit of the final amplifying stage. The power of the modulating signal thus approximates to that at the transmitter output.

CONT

Modulation is also identified as to level. High level modulation occurs when the modulating voltage is applied to the collector/plate circuit of the final power amplifier. With high level modulation, the final stage is operated class C and the preceding stages are also operated class C. The overall efficiency of such a transmitter is very high. A disadvantage of high level modulation is that comparatively high audio power is needed and several stages of voltage and power amplification may be required in the speech amplifier and modulator circuits.
