Para shooting, which involves the use of pneumatic rifles and pistols to shoot at a paper target, has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1976... At the Paralympic Games, para shooting competitions are open to athletes with various physical impairments, including impaired muscle power, limb deficiency, hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis, and/or impaired passive range of movement.

Passive range of movement is when the joint is taken through its range with no involvement of the individual. This is usually done by a physiotherapist during an assessment or as a treatment.

CONT

Active range of movement is a result of the athlete's own muscles, whereas passive range of movement is a result of an external stretching force.
