[In the United States] the National Weather Service(NWS) is the official source of watches, warnings and advisories for hazardous weather. [Following is an explanation of] terms used by the NWS... A WATCH is issued when the risk of hazardous weather has increased significantly but its occurrence, location, and/or timing is still uncertain. It is intended to provide adequate lead time to those people who will be affected so that they may start to prepare for the event. Severe thunderstorm and tornado watches are usually issued 45 minutes before the event. Flood/flash flood watches are usually issued 3 to 24 hours in advance of the event. Hurricane, river flood, and winter storm watches, can be issued as much as 12 to 36 hours in advance. 6, record 64, English, - weather%20watch

Becker dystrophy is like a less severe form of Duchenne dystrophy. Recently it was shown that DMD [Duchenne's muscular dystrophy] and BMD are due to defects of the same gene. The normal function of the gene is to enable muscle fibers to make a particular chemical substance, a protein called dystrophin. Muscle fibres in people affected with DMD are extremely deficient in dystrophin, in BMD the deficiency is less severe. 1, record 69, English, - Becker%20muscular%20dystrophy

Case of inelastic derived demand. Suppose that a particular building-trades union, such as the electricians’, raises wages. This case emphasizes the factors making for inelastic demand and a small resulting drop in employment of electricians.(1) Note that in the short run, employers cannot substitute other factors-such as machines or plasterers-for electricians.(2) Do not forget the importance of being unimportant : The total cost of a house will be little affected by a change in the wage rate of electricians alone. This fact will tend to cause only a mild reduction of employment as a result of an increase in their wages.(3) Suppose there is a great housing shortage so that people feel they need homes desperately. Inelasticity of demand for the final product, housing, will lower the derived elasticity for electricians.(4) Suppose that all practicing electricians must be in the union, so that an increase in wages is not followed by a great increase in nonunion labor supplied. This inelasticity of supply of other factors will tend to make the demand for union electricians inelastic.(5) Suppose, finally, that administered pricing or public regulation will not permit the prices at which houses are available to change much. This will make for a little quantity of houses sold and hence inelastic demand for the factors that build house. 1, record 71, English, - inelastic%20derived%20demand
