The PWGSC Office Automation Committee(OAC) is a forum for the PWGSC Sectors to determine the business requirements for office automation(OA), recommend the overall OA strategy and recommend OA priorities. OA is defined as a set of products and services used to automate, store, retrieve and transmit information through a computer-based desktop environment. OA services include user interface, information integration, management and sharing, workflow control and messaging. The OAC provides input and evaluation on the latest developments and initiatives affecting the entire Department. Beginning in 1993, l'École des hautes études commerciales in Montréal, via the Programme des centres d’excellence de la langue française, consulted with over 300 arts, cultural and communication enterprises and associations, and federal grant and contribution managers, on the importance of management/internal control and performance evaluation. Contrary to public perception, enterprises in the field of arts and culture consider management controls to be highly important and see them as contributing directly to the profitability of their business. The final project report recommended improvements to the management of federal grant and contribution programs, and to the structure, management systems, internal controls and performance evaluations of cultural enterprises.
