This component of the Young Canada Works program of Canadian Heritage provides up to 300 jobs for Aboriginal youths living in urban centres served by the 114 Friendship Centres across the country. Participants are eligible if they are high-school or post-secondary students, graduates or unemployed Aboriginal youths between the ages of 16 and 24. Successful candidates may be asked to develop, supervise or manage Aboriginal youth activities within the Friendship Centre. The work varies widely, depending on the needs of the participating Centre. Participants may be involved in activities ranging from youth and children's programs to cultural and recreation projects to various counselling programs. Jobs will be for a period ranging from 6 to 16 weeks from May to September.

On peut demander aux candidats retenus de mettre sur pied, de superviser ou de diriger des activités pour jeunes Autochtones dans un Centre d'amitié. Les fonctions varient selon les besoins des divers Centres. Les étudiants peuvent participer à des activités allant de programmes pour jeunes ou enfants ou de projets culturels et récréatifs à divers programmes de counselling. La durée des emplois est de 6 à 16 semaines consécutives, entre mai et septembre.
