A solid lump of iron located at the centre of the Earth’s core to a depth of 5100 kilometers below the surface of the Earth. 3, record 2, English, - Earth%27s%20inner%20core
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The solid inner core is the most remote and enigmatic part of our planet, and, next to the crust, is the smallest "official" subdivision of Earth's interior.... The inner core is isolated from the rest of [the] Earth by the low-viscosity fluid outer core, and it can rotate, nod, wobble, precess, oscillate, and even flip over, being only loosely constrained by the surrounding shells. Its existence, size, and properties constrain the temperature and mineralogy near the center of the Earth. 4, record 2, English, - Earth%27s%20inner%20core

5, record 2, French, - noyau%20interne%20de%20la%20Terre

The center of the Earth, beginning at a depth of 2900 kilometers. 3, record 3, English, - Earth%26rsquo%3Bs%20core
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
At the center of the Earth lies the core, which is nearly twice as dense as the mantle because its composition is metallic(iron-nickle alloy) rather than stony. Unlike the yolk of an egg, however, the Earth's core is actually made up of two distinct parts : a 2, 200-kilometer(1, 400-mile) thick liquid outer core and a 1, 250-kilometer(775-mile) thick solid inner core. 4, record 3, English, - Earth%26rsquo%3Bs%20core
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
In composition, the Earth is made of three nested spheres. At the center of Earth, a body of intensely hot iron and nickel forms the core. A less dense and much larger middle sphere is made of materials rich in iron, magnesium and calcium comprises the mantle. The outermost layer is a thin veneer of lighter rocks called the crust. 5, record 3, English, - Earth%26rsquo%3Bs%20core

5, record 3, French, - noyau%20terrestre
