Flow soldering is a technique used to bulk solder components onto a printed circuit board. Fire-tube boilers may be designed for vertical, inclined, or horizontal positions. One of the most generally used types is the horizontal-return-tube(HRT) boiler. In the HRT boiler, part of the heat from the combustion gases is transferred directly to the lower portion of the shell. The gases then make a return pass through the horizontal tubes or flues before being passed into the stack.

The ... horizontal return tube boiler ... gets it’s name from the horizontal fire tubes which run back-to-front through the lower half of the boiler drum. The gas burner is located under the front half of the boiler drum. The gas-cooled graphite moderated power reactor is moderated by graphite, and the cooling is achieved by passing large volumes of carbon dioxide through the pile. The hot gas is then passed through a heat exchanger to produce the steam for the turbines in a secondary circuit.

Back in 1892 legislation was proposed to grant patent rights for plant inventions. This legislation was supported by many prominent individuals, even Thomas Edison who stated that "nothing that Congress could do to help farming would be of greater value and permanence than to give to the plant breeder the same status as the mechanical and chemical inventors now have through the law."

Patent for Plant Inventions. In the case for a plant invention, any person who invents a new and distinct variety of plant which reproduces itself asexually may obtain a plant patent therefor.

The Plant Patent Act was passed by Congress on May 13, 1930... It was the first legislation anywhere in the world to grant patent rights to plant breeders and was enacted to "afford agriculture, so far as practicable, the same opportunity to participate in the benefits of the patent system as has been given to industry, and thus assist in placing agriculture on a basis of economic equality with industry. "

... Rev. Gregor Mendel(1822-1884)... grew peas, and saw that various traits(size, color, wrinkles) were passed from one generation to the next. Much more importantly, he saw that peas have pairs of some kind of hereditary factor. The pairs do not compromise with each other; either one or the other will be dominant. That is, if you cross a tall pea with a dwarf pea, you get some tall and some dwarf peas, but no peas of medium height. Further, in the first generation of cross-pollinated peas, they will all be tall, and in the next generation there will be three tall pea plants for every one dwarf.
