The functioning of the geotextile can be endangered by deterioration or clogging due to chemical, micro-biological and/or mechanical processes. The risk of clogging due to iron, lime and sulphate compounds is dependent on the chemical composition of the soil and the groundwater, the microbiological activity in the soil, the environmental conditions(aerobic/anaerobic) and the structure and surface character of the geotextile. 1, record 1, English, - micro%20biological%20clogging

Colmatage biologique.

3, record 1, French, - colmatage%20microbiologique

An important improvement in the Wei T’o system was the replacement of the effective deacidification agent, magnesium methoxide, by methoxy magnesium methyl carbonate(mmmc). 3, record 3, French, - carbonate%20m%C3%A9thylique%20de%20m%C3%A9thoxymagn%C3%A9sium

Microsprayers, also called mini-sprinklers or spitters, are similar in principle to drip systems in that water is applied only to a fraction of the ground surface. However, instead of dripping water from narrow-orifice emitters, microsprayer systems eject fine jets that fan out from a series of nozzles. Each nozzle can water an area of several square metres, which tends to be much larger than the individual areas wetted by single drip emitters.... thanks to the larger nozzle orifices and the greater rate of discharge, the hazard of clogging is reduced and the filtration requirements are not as stringent as in the case of drip irrigation.... The pressure requirements, however, remain in the order of one to two atmospheres-lower than those for regular sprinklers but still requiring pumpage or a commanding reservoir elevation of 10 metres or more. In other respects, microsprayer irrigation permits high-frequency, low-volume irrigation as well as the injection of fertilizers into the water supply.... Microsprayer systems are served by the same tubing network as drip systems. 2, record 4, English, - microsprayer%20irrigation%20system

Record number: 5, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Clogging, blocking and blinding. If the geotextile pore openings are slightly too small, then there will be insufficient initial wash-through of fine soil particles to promote the rapid formation of an efficient graded filter in the adjacent soil. Where the geotextile pore openings are even smaller, then there is a serious risk that either blinding, severe blocking or severe clogging will develop with time. Blocking is where soil particles resting on the surface of the geotextile, either totally or partially obstruct the pore openings.... Blinding is a special form of severe blocking, where the soil grading permits the suffusion of fine soil particles which are too large to pass through the geotextile.... Where the size of many of the soil particles is very close to that of the geotextile pore openings, then they are likely to enter the pores and become trapped within the geotextile. This can cause severe clogging which is most likely to arise in thick non-woven geotextiles with a complex pore structure. 3, record 5, English, - clogging
