CONT

The specific objectives of the CIMES [Critical Infrastructure Monitoring for the Energy Sector] project are to apply RADARSAT-2 high-resolution change detection and ground deformation capabilities for monitoring energy sector infrastructure, to develop 3-dimensional InSAR [interferometric synthetic aperture radar] deformation products specifically for dam movement monitoring(such as tailings dams and hydro power dams), provide accuracy parameters on the magnitude and direction of movement, and to assess and improve the coherence on InSAR pairs that are impacted by processor decorrelation.

CONT

The Processing and Distribution Subsystem (PDS) is one of eight subsystems which together form the RADARSAT-2 ground segment. Its role is to process the raw SAR data received from the satellite into the RADARSAT-2 products, and deliver these products to downstream consumers of the data. ... The PDS is based on MDA’s existing Product Generation System (PGS) which currently produces SAR imagery for multiple satellite missions (RADARSAT-1, ERS-1, ERS-2, JERS-1) and also processes optical satellite imagery from many sensors.

CONT

The RADARSAT-2 synthetic aperture radar(SAR) processor processes RADARSAT-2 signal data into georeferenced and geocoded imagery. The processor is a subsystem of the RADARSAT-2 ground segment and is referred to as the processing and distribution subsystem(PDS).

OBS

processing and distribution subsystem; SAR processor; PDS: terms and abbreviation officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

Domaine(s)
  • Stations terriennes
DEF

CONT

To minimize potential voids, it is better to sample an area with multiple looks.

OBS

Radar terminology refers to individuals "looks" as groups of signal samples in a SAR processor that splits the full synthetic aperture into several sub-apertures, each representing an independant "look" of the identical scene. The resulting image formed by incoherent summing of these "looks" is characterized by reduced speckle and degraded spatial resolution.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Engins spatiaux
  • Télédétection
DEF

Visées d'une scène sous différents angles.

OBS
