To penetrate a target, KE projectiles rely on velocity and not an explosive charge.... Historical research indicates that KE projectiles are responsible for forty percent of tanks knocked out in battle. Because KE projectiles are normally fired at very high velocity, they have a very flat trajectory(flight path), a decreased time of flight, and increased hit probability. The effectiveness of KE projectiles decreases at longer ranges, since the projectiles slow down during long flights. 4, record 1, English, - kinetic%20energy%20projectile

A circular pattern of air current created by the movement of an airfoil through the air when the airfoil is generating lift. 4, record 2, English, - wing%2Dtip%20vortex
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
As an airfoil moves through the atmosphere in sustained flight, an area of high pressure is created beneath it and an area of low pressure is created above it. The air flowing from the high-pressure area to the low-pressure area around and about the tips of the airfoil tends to roll up into two rapidly rotating vortices, cylindrical in shape. These vortices are the predominant parts of aircraft wake turbulence and their rotational force is dependent upon the wing loading, gross weight, and speed of the generating aircraft. The vortices from medium to heavy aircraft can be of extremely high velocity and hazardous to smaller aircraft. 4, record 2, English, - wing%2Dtip%20vortex

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 2, French, - tourbillon%20en%20bout%20d%27aile

"Speed" is generally used only in reference to the velocity of the flight of the ball after it has been hit or after it has bounced. Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 4, French, - vitesse
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 OBS

8, record 7, French, - impesanteur

Three classes of image movement can be recognised. The most obvious... is the steady movement due to the forward velocity of the aircraft. Next are the vibratory movements of the airframe excited by out-of-balance forces in the engines or airscrews, or by aerodynamic forces; some of this vibration always reaches the camera... The third... is the slow-period movement of the aircraft as a whole about its mean orientation in flight.... The effect of image movement on resolution has always been somewhat obscure, and it [is surprising] to find how much movement can be tolerated before its results appear as a blurring of the image. 1, record 12, English, - image%20movement

for "image displacement": "Image displacement" should not be used in this sense because it has a broader meaning than the French "filé". The ideal reusable launcher would be analogous to a normal aircraft in that it would be able to take off from many possible bases on Earth, enter the desired orbital plane, accelerate to orbital velocity, release its payload, de-orbit, dissipate its kinetic energy and land at the take-off base to be readied for its next flight after a quick turn-around. The vehicle would maintain physical integrity during a mission, would be flown ’very often’, and its cost per flight would be compatible with the value of the missions undertaken. The vehicle would also be able to abort its mission any time in the case of mishap and land intact with its payload. This ideal vehicle is the 'single-stage-to-orbit reusable rocket launcher’, or SSTO-RRL. 2, record 17, English, - single%2Dstage%2Dto%2Dorbit%20reusable%20rocket%20launcher

A good understanding of the basic axis system used to describe aircraft motion is necessary to fully appreciate flight test data, since all measurements are referenced to this axis system. Aircraft translational motion is described in terms of motion in three different directions, each direction being perpendicular to the other two(orthogonal). Motion in the X direction is forward and aft velocity. The Y direction produces sideways motion to the left and right, and up and down motion is in the Z direction... There are several slightly different versions of the basic axis system just described. They differ primarily in the exact placement of the zero reference lines, but are generally similar in their directions.(For example, the body-axis system uses the fuselage center line as the x axis, while a wind-axis system uses the direction that the aircraft is moving through the air as the x axis.) 4, record 18, English, - body%20axis%20system

The description of the Station's flight attitude(orientation relative to the plane of its orbit) is referenced to local-vertical/local-horizontal(LVLH) axes that are fixed with respect to the Station's near-circular orbit(i. e., not to the physical Station). The LVLH origin is at the Station's center-of-mass; the z-axis points radially toward the Earth's center(or toward the nadir direction), the x-axis points along the orbital velocity vector(the ram direction, with wake being opposite), and the y-axis completes the right-handed triad. The flight attitude of the Station is then described using a second, Station-fixed, coordinate system whose orientation relative to LVLH is specified using the Eulerian angles of yaw, pitch and roll. Several Station-fixed coordination systems are defined. The most widely used is the Space Station Reference Coordinate System,... in thich the positive x-axis points along the axis of the U. S. lab away from the Zarya and Service Modules; the positive y-axis points starboard along the main truss, and positive z completes a right-handed coordinate system. 2, record 20, English, - Station%26rsquo%3Bs%20flight%20attitude
