The medical plastics sector does have 'single-use' at its core. And with good reason. Given the applications for many medical plastic devices, and the risk that re-use would pose to health, the argument for throw-away products is clear.

On retrouve également des plastiques médicaux, comme les sacs de soluté ou encore les tubulures, un peu partout dans l'hôpital. On estime qu'ils représentent 10 % des déchets des centres hospitaliers. Selon Recyc-Québec, il n'y a que quelques hôpitaux qui récupèrent ces plastiques qui sont pourtant de bonne qualité et qui ne sont pas contaminés, contrairement aux déchets biomédicaux.
