A shared cost program designed to meet primarily the infrastructure needs and priorities of local governments. Projects are be developed by municipalities and other partners, and costs are normally be shared equally among project participants, the province and the federal government each providing up to one third of the project funding. Private sector participation in local infrastructure development is encouraged by the program, particularly if it assists municipalities in financing priority projects.
