The French Institute for the Environment (Institut français de l'environnement or IFEN) was established by Decree no. 91-1177 of November 18, 1991. It is a public administrative body under the authority of the French Ministry of Environment and constitutes its statistical department (under Ministerial Order of December 22, 1993). Créé par le décret nº 91-1177 du 18 novembre 1991, l'Institut français de l'environnement, implanté à Orléans, est un établissement public de l'État à caractère administratif, placé sous la tutelle du ministère de l'Aménagement du Territoire et de l'Environnement dont il est le service statistique(arrêté du 22 décembre 1993). L'IFEN anime et coordonne la collecte, le traitement et la diffusion de l'information statistique et des données sur l'ensemble des thèmes environnementaux, en particulier dans le domaine de l'eau, l'air, le bruit, les déchets, l'état de la faune et de la flore, l'occupation du territoire, l'environnement littoral et marin ainsi que les risques naturels et technologiques. 2, record 1, French, - Institut%20fran%C3%A7ais%20de%20l%27environnement
