In a military context, the term "Through Life Support," among other definitions, is used to describe an arrangement between a service provider and a branch of the armed forces, where the responsibility, and risk, of operating an aircraft is delegated to the original system supplier or designated support partner. This trend sees defence moving away from acquiring a military system, the acquisition of a military capability. With the acquisition of the hardware comes a guarantee that the supplied product will meet a list of specific criteria, including, for example, pre-determined levels of dispatch reliability and availability.

[...] la compagnie s’efforça de trouver une technologie qui pourrait aider à récupérer plus de bois de ses approvisionnements en billes de petits formats et courbées. [...] Une fois que les billes sont balayées électroniquement et que le PLC communique leurs paramètres en réseau, les billes sont dirigées dans la refendeuse primaire où les deux faces parallèles sont éliminées. Ce qui produit une bille dédossée qui est automatiquement tournée dans le rouleau d’entraînement vers le refendage secondaire. La refendeuse secondaire se charge des deux autres faces en utilisant la technologie de sciage en courbe, laissant une bille carrée avec sa courbe permise.
