A pot-vitrification process has been developed for the fixation of fission products either in phosphate or borosilicate glasses.

The discontinuous/one stage process is a "pot vitrification process". The three phases follow one another in the same unit, the "pot". The liquid waste and glass forming additives are introduced simultaneously and slowly heated and solidified by heating the pot in a furnace up to the glass formation temperature. The pot is then removed from the furnace and serves as the storage container. The feeding process and the heating method may be altered.

An oil burner in which the oil is vaporized by air entering through a perforated shell that surrounds the pot containing the oil.

Vaporizing pot-type burners can be divided into two groups: the natural-draft type and the forced-draft type.

The vaporizing pot-type burner prepares the oil for burning by exposing it on the surface of a heated metal plate. The simplest form of this type of burner resembles a bucket with perforated sides and also has a top with a row of closely spaced holes or a slot. The pot-type burner, which can have either manual or automatic ignition, is used for firing space heaters and small central-heating furnaces.

Les brûleurs à gazéification, encore appelés gazéificateurs ou brûleurs à vaporisation, voient leur emploi limité aux petits générateurs d’air, aux poêles à mazout et à des chaudières de faible puissance. Certains fonctionnement en tirage naturel (...) Dans d’autres types, le mélange est entraîné vers le foyer par une arrivée continue d’air provenant d’un ventilateur basse pression. Le principe de fonctionnement est le suivant: le fuel domestique est dirigé vers une coupelle métallique préalablement mise en température où il se vaporise avant de brûler. L’air primaire pénètre par les ouvertures périphériques et se mélange aux vapeurs de fuel. La combustion doit être amorcée par un moyen additif (résistance électrique, combustible gazeux, etc).

Les brûleurs à pot de gazéification (parfois appelés brûleurs-gazogènes). (...) L’appareil original (...) se composait: 1. D’une sorte de boîte cylindrique construite en tôle réfractaire et séparée en deux compartiments par un déflecteur, 2. Deux enveloppes permettant de réchauffer l’air de combustion avant son admission dans le "pot", en récupérant les déperditions de la paroi extérieure. 3. D’une cuve à niveau constant (...) Les fabrications un peu modernes sont généralement du type "à pot ouvert" (...) [ou] à pot cylindrique (...).

OBS

Dans le domaine du chauffage, l'emploi du terme "brûleur à pot de gazéification" semble très peu usité. Les auteurs des sources consultées favorisent plutôt l'utilisation du générique "brûleur à vaporisation" et son synonyme "brûleur à gazéification", pour désigner cette notion.

OBS

Le "brûleur à caléfaction" se compose d’une plaque caléfiante (MOMON, BECHB, GUICH, TECHN) alors que le "brûleur à vaporisation" comporte une coupelle métallique. Cet usage ne semble cependant pas très rigoureux.
