Les processeurs "aménagés" pour l'intelligence artificielle feront appel à des "descripteurs"(tags), d’où l'expression de mémoire "taggée". Cela signifie que chaque mot en mémoire possédera un champ descripteur indiquant la nature de l'objet qu'il représente. L'interpréteur sait aussi immédiatement à quelle entité il a affaire. D'où un gain appréciable en vitesse d’exécution des programmes.
