Les gneiss [...] comme les micaschistes, sont des roches très répandues. Ils se distinguent de ces derniers par la présence de feldspaths visibles à l'œil nu. Le quartz aussi est plus apparent et la texture est non seulement foliée, mais litée, car de minces couches de mica séparent des lits où quartz et feldspath sont étroitement engrenés.
