Le bombyx de l’ailante (Samia cynthia) est un grand papillon nocturne introduit de Chine en Europe pour produire de la soie. Son élevage peu rentable a vite été abandonné, mais quelques individus échappés de captivité ont fait souche dans certaines grandes villes où l’ailante avait été planté comme arbre d’ornement.
