Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS

Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease... The term scleroderma means "hard skin", which describes thickening of the skin from increased deposition of collagen. There are two types of scleroderma. Localized scleroderma affects the skin and musculoskeletal system. Systemic sclerosis causes internal organ damage including scarring and blood vessel damage in the skin, lungs, heart, and kidneys. 5, fiche 5, Anglais, - scleroderma
Record number: 5, Textual support number: 1 OBS
[Scleroderma] was formerly known as "skin-bound" or "hide-bound" disease. Both of these terms accurately describe the ultimate effects of thickening of the skin due to swelling and thickening of the underlying connective tissue... The actual cause is unknown, but vascular, endocrine and autoimmune factors have been suspected. 3, fiche 5, Anglais, - scleroderma

Cryoglobulins are classified as Type I, monoclonal immunoglobulins; Type II, immune complexes involving immunoglobulins with antibody activity against polyclonal immunoglobulins; or Type III, immune complexes involving polyclonal immunoglobulins; in most cases, these are globulin-antiglobulin immune complexes like type II complexes. Types I and II occur in plasma cell dyscrasias and lymphoproliferative disorders Types II and III occur in autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjogren's syndrome. 2, fiche 21, Anglais, - cryoglobulin
