The Department of the Commissioner of Agriculture and Public Works was established March 4, 1868. Prior to the formation of the Ontario Department of Agriculture, agricultural administration in Upper Canada was handled by a Board of Agriculture, later named the Bureau of Agriculture. Name changed in 1885 to Department of Agriculture, although not officially changed until March 23, 1888, and again May 18, 1966 to Department of Agriculture and Food. A further name change occurred April 1, 1972 to Ministry of Agriculture and Food. As Canada's contribution to the field of aviation and aerospace continues to grow, the Canada Aviation Museum will be growing along with it, by including the representation of human space flight in its mandate and collection. This initiative is the result of a dynamic partnership between the Canadian Space Agency and the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation. To better reflect the changes in its mandate, the Museum has changed its name to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

At that time the name of the organization was changed to the Kiwanis Music Festival. Later the Festival was expanded to include Dance competitions as well as Music. The name of the organization was then changed to its current title. With the incorporation of Dance, the Festival has grown in size from about sixth place in the Province to second place. The Festival has maintained a steady growth in number of entries ever since. 1998 will be the fourth year for Speech Arts. The largest and most important city of the province of British Columbia but not its capital, located on a peninsula in the province's southwest mainland, between Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River, where the latter meets the Strait of Georgia. The first settlement in the region was Fort Langley in 1827 and the first urban community was New Westminster in 1859. Vancouver got its start when the Canadian Pacific Railway(CPR) reached Burrard Inlet from the statutory terminus at Port Moody in 1886. On the 6 of April of that year, the "city of Vancouver" was incorporated by the provincial legislature, a name that William Van Horne, the vice-president of CPR, had suggested in honour of English Captain George Vancouver who sailed in the area and along the west coast in 1792 with the Spaniards Galiano and Valdés. By the turn of the century, Vancouver had displaced Victoria, the provincial capital, as the leading commercial centre on Canada's West Coast. In 1929, the city expanded with the annexation of the municipalities of Point Grey and South Vancouver. Another century later, in 1967, the Greater Vancouver Regional District(GVRD) was already comprising Vancouver and 19 suburban municipalities, the urban centre having never ceased to grow. 2, fiche 15, Anglais, - Vancouver

The largest city of the province of New Brunswick but not its capital(Fredericton), located at Saint John River's entry into the Bay of Fundy, and named "Saint John" because Samuel de Champlain arrived at this harbour on 24 June 1604, the feast of St John the Baptist, and gave the river its name. But it's only in 1630 that the settlement of the area did start with the construction of Fort La Tour by Charles de La Tour. In 1701, the French governor of Acadia destroyed the fort and established his forces across the bay at Port-Royal. The old French fort was rebuilt by the English in 1758 and renamed "Fort Frederick, "but the Americans destroyed it in 1775. In 1778, the English built "Fort Howe" on the west side of the river, around which pre-Loyalists later established themselves. The community greatly expanded in 1783 when the Loyalists settled on the east side of the harbour in Parr Town, on the west side in Carleton and on the north side in Portland. In 1785, Carleton and Parr Town were incorporated under the name "Saint John"(the first incorporated city in Canada). New Brunswick was made a separate colony in 1784 and Saint John briefly served as the provincial capital before the capital was moved to Fredericton. From the 1820s through the 1840s, the city's growth was linked to a massive flow of immigrants, especially Scots and Irish; late-19th century immigrants came notably from Eastern Europe. In 1889, the adjacent town of Portland became part of the city of Saint John; in 1967, the city further expanded to include the city of Lancaster, the parish of Lancaster and part of the parish of Simonds. Even though the province of New Brunswick was declared officially bilingual, the city of Saint John never was bilingual and has still only "Saint John" as official name. 2, fiche 16, Anglais, - Saint%20John

The Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, Inc., known initially as the Coffee Exchange of the City of New York, was founded in 1882. The Exchange was formed by a group of coffee merchants who wished to avoid the risk of a cash market collapse by organizing a market for trading in coffee futures. In 1914, the Coffee Exchange expanded to include futures in sugar, and, in 1916, it became the New York Coffee and Sugar Exchange, Inc. On September 28, 1979, the New York Cocoa Exchange, Inc., which had been in existence since 1925, was officially merged into the Coffee and Sugar Exchange, and the name Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, Inc. was adopted. 2, fiche 17, Anglais, - Coffee%2C%20Sugar%20%26%20Cocoa%20Exchange%2C%20Inc%2E
